Once you file for bankruptcy, your creditors and debt collectors will not be able to call you or take any action against you. Bankruptcy will put a halt to foreclosures, garnishments, lawsuits and all forms of creditor harassment.
The Chapter 7 process is fairly simple. If you qualify for Chapter 7 relief, you will have to turn over your nonexempt assets to a bankruptcy trustee.
